Registration opens from 27 Oct 2026 to 31 Jan 2027 via the official website peoplesolar.mea.or.th for residential electricity users wishing to install solar home systems sized 5-10 kilowatts maximum. The program also offers options to apply for special low-interest loans and sell surplus power back to the grid. Here is a summary of all conditions and steps you need to know before registering.

How to prepare before registering for the “People's Solar Program”

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) advises preparing six pieces of information to make registration easier:

4. Choose a registered installation service provider

5. Specify whether applying for a loan or self-paying, and whether you intend to sell surplus power back to the grid

Check eligibility to join the “People's Solar Program” and receive a 50,000 baht subsidy.

Government subsidizes 50,000 baht; if funds are insufficient, loans are available.

The government has arranged with three banks to offer loans for solar system installation: Government Savings Bank, Government Housing Bank, and Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, at 2.5% annual interest, repayable over about 7 years. Income from selling electricity can be used to repay the loan.

Regarding the 50,000 baht government subsidy, if applicants do not take a loan, the government will transfer the amount via PromptPay directly to them. For those who take loans, the government will transfer the 50,000 baht to the bank.

In summary, if you are interested or planning to install solar panels to save electricity costs at home, this program may be an option to help you save money. Therefore, interested individuals should register quickly as there are only 1 million slots available. Registration is open from 27 Oct 2026 to 31 Jan 2027.
