Government Solar Panel Project 2026: 1 Million Registrations via peoplesolar.mea.or.th with 50,000 Baht Government Support

The 2026 Government Solar Panel Project provides 50,000 baht in government support for one million eligible citizens who register through the websites peoplesolar.mea.or.th or peoplesolar.pea.co.th.

After Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of the “People’s Solar” project yesterday (27 Oct 2026), the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) jointly launched the initiative in line with the Cabinet's approval of the national energy agenda. The project aims to encourage homeowners to install solar power systems, reduce electricity expenses, increase renewable energy usage, and support the country's energy transition.

Eligibility criteria and conditions for participation in the project

1. Must be a natural person with Thai nationality.

2. Must be a residential electricity user under Type 1.

3. Install a system sized between 5 kWp and 10 kWp per meter (new installation or additional), excluding any existing solar systems. The system must include at least key components such as solar panels and an inverter.

4. The applicant's name must match the name of the meter owner where the solar system is installed.

5. The subsidy can be used only once per individual throughout the project duration.

6. Installation services must be provided through MEA, PEA, or vendors registered with the electricity authorities.

7. Tax invoices for equipment purchase and installation must be dated on or after the registration opening date for the subsidy.

8. Connection requests must be submitted by 31 August 2027, and the connection must be completed by 30 September 2027.

9. Applicants must not claim the 200,000 baht tax deduction under Royal Decree No. 805.

10. State welfare cardholders are eligible but cannot receive the 20-year electricity bill subsidy.

11. The subsidy is 50,000 baht per installation, capped at 1,000,000 installations nationwide or until the approved budget is exhausted.

The government provides 50,000 baht support, but applicants can apply for additional loans through three participating banks.

The project targets supporting equipment purchase and installation costs with 50,000 baht per installation for one million applicants, according to specified criteria.

Participants may apply for loans from participating banks, including Government Savings Bank, Government Housing Bank, and Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives. Loan approval follows each bank's criteria.

Registration for the 2026 Government Solar Panel Project is available via peoplesolar.mea.or.th.

Interested citizens can register through peoplesolar.pea.co.th for PEA service areas or peoplesolar.mea.or.th for MEA service areas from 27 October 2026 to 31 January 2027. Eligibility and subsidy amount depend on the project’s criteria and budget.

The applicant's name must match the electricity meter owner’s name where the solar system is installed.

A key registration requirement is that the name on the electricity bill matches the national ID card. If they differ, corrections can be made at the nearest Provincial Electricity Authority office or via the PEA Smart Plus application.

To change the electricity user number (CA), the applicant must cancel the existing subsidy and then register again with the desired CA. The system cannot change the CA on an existing subsidy.

Can state welfare cardholders apply for the 2026 Government Solar Panel Project?

State welfare recipients are eligible for the subsidy but must forgo the 315 baht monthly electricity bill assistance for 20 years starting from the date of successful grid connection.

  • Track application status under the 'My Rights' menu.

Step 4: Receive approval for connection and power sale.

  • Connection approval must be granted by 30 September 2027.
  • MEA or PEA will conduct technical inspections before approval; power resale is not guaranteed in all cases.

Step 5: Submit a claim to receive the subsidy.

  • After grid connection, submit the claim under the 'My Rights' menu.
