Synopsis of the drama "Bitter Honey"

When the love between Purim (Dome Pakorn Lum) and Rose (Catreya English) transforms from a sweet rose of love into a rose full of sharp thorns of pain. He has borne the torment of these piercing thorns for years, nurturing them into the bitter honey of anguish ready to harm his enemies until he meets Kangsadan (Yiwa Preeyakan) Rose’s daughter. Purim immediately wields the painful thorns soaked in past bitterness as weapons to seek revenge against the two mother and daughter. Yet, Purim loses to his own heart, overcome by the goodness and innocence of Kangsadan, who is the daughter of the woman who once wounded him deeply.

Purim Phitsanukarn (Poo) is a mature businessman haunted by the heartbreak from his previous love with "Rose" which nearly shattered his life, causing him to see women merely as toys.

Rose reappears in Purim’s life as a widow with a child and a severe alcohol problem, desperate enough to sell her daughter Kangsadan to become Purim’s wife. Kangsadan lives with Purim, but Juangchan (Joy Rinlanee) a mature widow and Purim’s sister-in-law, opposes this because she secretly loves Purim, her late husband’s younger brother. Kangsadan has no choice but to endure. Over time, Purim realizes Kangsadan is nothing like her mother Rose, and his hatred begins to fade, turning into love.

Meanwhile, Jane (Peterpan Tatsapon) Juangchan’s only son, also falls in love with Kangsadan. Purim expels the mother and son from his house, intensifying Juangchan’s grudge against Kangsadan. Juangchan tries everything to remove Kangsadan from Purim’s life. Kangsadan seeks refuge with relatives in the province. Purim secretly confronts Kangsadan, mistakenly believing she is involved romantically with Karakit, her uncle. At the same time, he meets Saengdao (Pangko Jintanadda) a woman who believes in love and acts as Kangsadan’s aunt. They openly associate, but Purim still finds opportunities to meet Kangsadan secretly. Unable to resist, she agrees to be with Purim clandestinely.

When the secret is revealed, everyone is angry at Kangsadan, but Saengdao surprisingly calms the situation and helps Kangsadan prepare for a wedding ceremony that everyone assumes is between Purim and Saengdao, though the invitation card bears Kangsadan’s name. This is their plan to pretend a relationship to reveal Kangsadan’s true feelings. Juangchan learns of this and suffers a heart attack, eventually passing away. Purim and Kangsadan begin their life together anew, with sincere love from both sides.
