Channel 3 Launches Tang Tid Jor, a Vertical Series Project on TV with 20 Minutes of Ad-Free Viewing

Channel 3 has caused quite a buzz by announcing the launch of vertical series on TV, under the name "Tang Tid Jor" at the press event "Channel 3’s 56th Anniversary Entertainment Festival: What's New?" held at Paragon Park. This makes them the first in Thai television to take this bold step. The vertical series will air Monday to Friday from 17:40 to 18:00, starting Monday, 16 March, with "Whispering Love Under the Sun" a lighthearted romantic comedy series perfect for relaxing, offering 20 minutes of uninterrupted viewing per episode. Each story concludes in five consecutive days. Four more series are lined up, including "Last Love, Mr. Husband," a dramatic, intense revenge story, followed by "Phoenix: Flames Return Home" a period drama about palace intrigues, along with another period drama, "Female General Shakes the Martial World" which highlights a female general fighting threats to protect the kingdom, and the highly anticipated "Thai Girl Crosses Time to Trouble the General's Heart" a romantic time-travel series produced by Love Drama Company, led by Kai Warayuth, in collaboration with Chinese partners, starring Lisa Alisa Ann Hines, a Channel 3 actress and member of the group Blyss.

The versions aired on "Tang Tid Jor" are newly edited to suit TV viewing, with five episodes in total. For full-length viewing, audiences can watch on 3Plus, which releases the full versions after the first TV broadcast at 18:00. Viewers may purchase single-series tickets for 49 baht, available for viewing within three days.

Arm Wiboon Leeratnakorn acting CEO of Channel 3 Television Business, explained the channel's bold move: "Tang Tid Jor opens the door for the vertical series industry. It’s undeniable that Thai audiences have known vertical series for years. The word 'Tang' comes from vertical series, 'Tid' reflects how viewers get hooked and want to keep watching, and 'Jor' means TV screen. 'Tang Tid Jor' means bringing vertical series onto Channel 3’s screen, unlocking the shift from mobile viewing to television. We’ve achieved this now. 3Plus owns this project because every series aired on Channel 3 is also available on 3Plus. Those who don’t want to wait can watch immediately on 3Plus. The TV aspect is interesting because the 20-minute vertical format leaves side space, allowing us to innovate advertising using vertical ads with QR codes. Viewers can scan to contact or purchase products directly, engaging with advertisers instantly. All complies with NBTC regulations and does not disturb viewers. We see this as an experimental new advertising format."

He added, "Tang Tid Jor" will start with Chinese series, as they pioneered the format. Of course, we plan to develop Thai vertical series, which is our main goal. We want to see successful Thai vertical series. Channel 3’s focus on vertical series recognizes that consumer habits increasingly favor vertical viewing, which has global growth potential. Producing vertical series is cost-effective, allowing quicker decisions and lower risks. It also serves as a training ground for scriptwriting and production methods. These efforts develop the industry via Tang Tid Jor and create new opportunities on 3Plus for Thai vertical series, beginning with Channel 3’s drama catalog, like "Rang Ngao."

Additionally, Channel 3 has previous vertical content called short dramas on Teak Tower, which garnered tens of millions of views. We also have experienced drama producers as partners to strengthen quality Thai vertical series production capable of competing internationally. We aim to sell these series to China and worldwide. At this point, I want to thank everyone for their interest. "Tang Tid Jor" means presenting quality vertical series on Channel 3’s screen every Monday to Friday from 17:40 to 18:00 with no commercial breaks during the 20-minute slot. The first episode airs Monday, 16 March."
