Touring The Norm: A Bar Embracing All Weariness with World-Class Furniture for a Relaxing, Home-Like Atmosphere

Today, a 'home' may no longer be just a building but a place that embraces us physically and emotionally—a spot with a favorite chair where we can rest peacefully and an atmosphere that lets us be our most authentic selves.

This focus on comfort that feels like home is the heart of The Norm, a new bar on the 42nd floor of Dusit Central Park. It aims to be a central city space where people from all directions—whether from the North, Northeast, Central, South, or foreigners—come together and feel this is their place, or ‘Here You Belong.’

With the home-like comfort concept, legendary furniture from Danish brand Fritz Hansen plays a key role in connecting physical relaxation with the user’s body, as physical comfort profoundly influences emotional well-being.

Moreover, the spacious area of over 1,200 square meters is divided into multiple zones to accommodate various styles of relaxation, each offering panoramic city views. Another highlight is the cocktail menu, crafted to narrate Bangkok’s story through flavors that intriguingly trace the city’s transformation.

The aesthetic pleasure of reclining in a space welcoming to all.

If The Norm were a person, Turk Sitthanan Sanguankul, the bar’s owner, defined its identity intriguingly:

“This is someone who has grown to know themselves well and has reached a stable, successful life. They seek a quality, simple, and timeless lifestyle and want to be a support to those around them.”

This identity means The Norm is not a flashy, 'loud' bar but one that embraces everyone warmly through a universal language reflected in Modern Classic interior design, allowing visitors to appreciate its aesthetics without effort or interpretation—anyone can enter and immediately feel naturally part of it.

Since the goal is ultimate comfort like being at home, furniture that evokes this feeling is fundamental. Thus, the high-end global brand Fritz Hansen is the star here. The design started with the furniture, which then defined the space and spacing, allowing all interior architecture to harmonize naturally with the furniture.

Also, Turk, the bar owner and a passionate Fritz Hansen fan, wanted customers to experience the same furniture he personally uses and loves, making this brand the starting point of the bar.

“Have you ever been somewhere that looks beautiful, but when you sit down, the seat doesn’t fit well? Then the beauty no longer matters. Choosing a world-class furniture brand that seriously considers every detail—from curves to angles—means customers immediately feel comfort, perfect fit, and softness when they sit.”

Another special feature here is offering rare furniture items for people to experience and use, such as the PK31 sofa set designed since the 1950s, specially ordered Series 7 bar chairs, and over 11 Egg Chairs arranged around a table to prominently highlight this area.

Exploring flavors across three zones with three styles.

The Norm’s space is divided into three main zones, each offering unique experiences and drink characters. The ‘Main Hall’ is a spacious central area with well-arranged seating, including large sofas for groups of friends, Series 7 chairs at the bar offering a lively atmosphere near the DJ booth, and Swan Chairs for those seeking quiet conversation or work space.

The Main Hall’s specialty is serving Signature Cocktails that narrate Bangkok’s transformation through flavors of each era, starting with The Original Bangkok series representing the traditional time when people traveled by water and vendors sold savory and sweet dishes by boat. The bar reinterpreted 'coconut milk,' a key ingredient in Thai desserts, blending it with the classic Piña Colada to create the Klong Colada cocktail.

Moving to the transition era in the Modern Bangkok series, when Western culture and tea drinking gained popularity, the bar reimagined this by combining Thai fruit-eating culture with inspiration from the Chao Phraya River, creating the River Fizz—a refreshing and sparkling drink.

Arriving at the present with the Progressive Bangkok series, reflecting young people’s lifestyle favoring easy-to-drink, lighter alcohol beverages, manifested in the Sky Link 42 cocktail, which is sweet, tasty, easy to drink, and perfectly light.

Beyond the Main Hall lies the ‘Whispering Room,’ a private and quieter zone featuring Classic Cocktails made with rare, limited spirits and elevated by serving in Kimura Glasses imported from Japan, enhancing the premium experience.

Finally, the ‘Terraces’ outdoor balcony welcomes natural breeze and city views. Its drink menu is specially created and refreshed every 3 to 5 months, rotating fun offerings according to the character and style of guest bartenders who visit to add vibrancy.

Ultimately, amid the busy city life, people may simply need a relaxing space where they can be themselves—a comfortable retreat like home with elevated aesthetics. This aligns with The Norm’s name, derived from neutrality and accessibility, welcoming everyone regardless of origin or taste to step in and instantly feel part of the place.

The Norm is located on the 42nd floor of Dusit Central Park Offices, Rama 4 Road, Silom Subdistrict, Bang Rak District, Bangkok. The bar is open daily from 17:00 until 02:00.
