Siam Piwat x Bangkok Design Week Ignites Creative Powerhouse Transforming Four Central City Spaces into Endless Creative Collages

Siam Piwat has steadfastly developed its shopping centers as art spaces for over 60 years. This time, it collaborates again with the Creative Economy Agency (CEA) for Bangkok Design Week 2026, presenting art under the theme of Sustainable Art & Design by both Thai and international artists. Acting as a 'Creative Powerhouse,' it aims to transform four central city locations—Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and ICONSIAM—into art worlds, turning shopping malls into creative spaces.

What stands out is not just the beauty of the artworks but the thoughtful approach behind them, carefully selecting experiences that make art tangible and emotionally healing for everyone—from avid art lovers to casual visitors seeking a relaxing stroll (even bringing along their beloved dogs). Each shopping center features its own distinct concept, with over 20 activities to enjoy and numerous products from artists.

The fun of this event lies in each shopping center’s clear brand personality, expressed through uniquely designed experiences. They reinterpret local culture to fit the Bangkok Design Week theme, demonstrating that art is not something distant or confined to galleries but something everyone can appreciate in daily life.

Starting with Siam Paragon, it emphasizes luxury blended with world-class art. The highlight is 'Between Earth & Light,' an abstract painting playfully interacting with light, accompanied by a glass chandelier from the renowned brand LASVIT, reflecting exquisite craftsmanship.

Siam Center presents itself as the city of ideas, focusing on freshness, youth, and trends. Highlights include the art market 'Sabai Siam,' offering space for Thai artists to showcase their work, and the 'LUCKY WITH EVERYTHING' zone, which reinterprets beliefs about luck in a fun, pop style.

Siam Discovery acts as a testing ground emphasizing 'questioning' and 'hands-on' engagement. A must-see is 'KHUAN,' a large-scale installation art piece that contemporizes ancient Laotian spiritual beliefs.

Finally, ICONSIAM serves as a bridge connecting Thailand to the world, featuring the intriguing 'Khlongsan Experience,' which transforms getting 'lost' in the Khlong San area into an exciting exploration through community stories and design.

Siam Piwat’s big challenge is how to engage the general public who may not deeply understand art. Their answer is to create Extraordinary Art Experiences linked to lifestyle. The clearest example is 'MY PAWFECT BUDDIES' at Siam Discovery, which is more than an art exhibition—it’s a pet-friendly space where dog lovers can bring their companions to stroll, with art designed to be animal-friendly. This exemplifies transforming shopping centers into vibrant community spaces.

Additionally, 'BLOOM in Four Seasons' at ICONSIAM is an immersive art installation using world-class music by Vivaldi to soothe audiences, transporting them into a world of seasons and hope. Supporting local heroes, 'ICONCRAFT X PATTERN.ERS' showcases five emerging fashion brands from Northern Thailand, telling stories of 'luck and fortune' through contemporary design. This continues the role Siam Center has played since 1973 as a platform launching countless Thai designers.

In an era when everyone talks about sustainability, Siam Piwat strives to create 'Co-Creating Shared Value'—generating positive impacts for people, society, and the environment. This is evident in the NEXTOPIA zone, a prototype city of the future that integrates sustainability with art. For example, 'The Ocean Canopy' by Korakot Aromdee transforms marine plastic waste into beautiful sculptures, supporting fishermen’s incomes, reducing global waste, and creating aesthetic enjoyment for viewers. This embodies a tangible sustainability cycle.

Siam Piwat describes itself as an art piece that is not perfect or complete, but a large collaborative artwork constantly evolving with the creativity of artists, partners, communities, and all customers. The goal is not just beauty but to inspire and drive Thailand’s Creative Economy to grow together. Bangkok Design Week 2026, in partnership with Siam Piwat, is not merely an art and product exhibition but an invitation for everyone to experience the city’s energy, with each person becoming part of this creative journey.

Bangkok Design Week 2026 at Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and ICONSIAM runs until 8 February, with many more art events continuing into March. More information is available atbangkokdesignweek.com
