The King Prajadhipok’s Institute has released survey results on the constitutional amendment referendum trends by age group, revealing Baby Boomers as the most opposed at 31%, contrasting sharply with Gen Z, which shows the highest support at 58.8%. Attention now turns to the undecided voters and how they will vote on 8 Feb 2026.
The KPI Poll Center announced the results of its sixth public opinion survey titled “Direction of the Constitutional Referendum,” conducted between 16-19 January 2026. The survey sampled 2,000 citizens aged 18 and over from all regions across the country.
The survey found that overall, more than half of the public tends to support the referendum, but a significant portion remains undecided, indicating uncertainty and a desire for more information before making a decision.
Overall, 53% of respondents support the referendum, 23.4% oppose it, and 23.6% have no opinion.
When analyzed by age group, clear differences emerge.
Gen Z shows 58.8% support, 15.5% opposition, and 25.7% undecided.
Gen Y demonstrates 56.7% support, 21.5% opposition, and 21.8% undecided.
Gen X shows 52.8% support, 22.3% opposition, and 24.9% undecided.
Baby Boomers display 46% support, 31% opposition, and 23% undecided.
The survey reflects a trend where younger people are more open to change via the referendum process, while older groups show significantly higher opposition, possibly linked to concerns over risks, uncertainties, and lack of understanding of the amendment process details.
The KPI Poll No. 06 concludes that although overall referendum sentiment leans toward support, a large portion of the public remains hesitant or undecided. Additionally, generational differences continue to be a critical factor to watch in this referendum battle.
