Civil Service and Local Political Career

Before becoming Mayor of Hat Yai City, Narongporn Na Phatthalung had an extensive career in government service in southern Thailand. He was previously known as "Palad Pan" (Chief Officer Pan) due to his deep understanding of the region, having held various positions, particularly in Songkhla province. He served as district chief in three districts: Rattaphum, Chana, and Hat Yai.

His experience as district chief of Hat Yai was a crucial foundation, giving him thorough insight into the challenges and needs of the residents within Hat Yai municipality before fully entering local politics.

Victory in the Hat Yai Mayoral Election

Narongporn Na Phatthalung earned the trust of the people and won the mayoral election for Hat Yai City on 11 May 2025. He ran as an independent candidate, unaffiliated with any political party, and successfully defeated the incumbent mayor.

After taking office, he presented his policy agenda to the Hat Yai City Council, focusing on various areas such as six urgent policies, promoting grassroots economic opportunities, enhancing education quality, and sustainable environmental management to make the city more livable.

Administrative Role in Crisis Situations

As director of the Hat Yai Municipality's Flood Prevention and Mitigation Center, Narongporn Na Phatthalung plays a vital role in managing and resolving recurring flood problems in the Hat Yai district. He monitors information and issues warnings to residents during crises.

Due to the severity and uncontrollable nature of the recent flooding in Hat Yai, social media began questioning and seeking “Mayor Pan,” who often posts about his work online. His personal Facebook page shows videos documenting his hard work starting from 24 Nov 2025.
