Identification Documents for the 2026 Election: How to Find Them and What Alternatives Are Acceptable

For the 2026 election and the referendum on 8 February 2026, identification documents are crucial and voters must be prepared.

The documents that eligible voters can use to verify their identity when casting ballots for members of the House of Representatives or the constitutional amendment referendum on Sunday, 8 February 2026, are as follows.

1. National ID card, either the current one or an expired card, provided the 13-digit citizen ID number is still valid and the photo clearly shows the face.

2. Official government identification cards, such as civil servant cards or state enterprise employee cards.

3. Driving licenses, whether for cars or motorcycles.

4. Passport or travel document.

The key principle is that the card, document, or evidence must be issued by a government agency, show a clear facial photo, and include a 13-digit citizen ID number that is still valid.

If physical cards or booklets are inconvenient, voters can also verify their identity through government agency applications as permitted by law, for example, the ThaiID app.

Voters preparing to participate in the election on 8 February should have their identification documents ready to avoid losing their voting rights.
