Latest update: Bhumjaithai Party and coalition partners are expected to have 280 seats to form the government, aiming to increase to 300 seats. Attention is on the stance of the Glatham Party.
Following the completion of the election on 8 Feb 2026 and unofficial vote counts, the Bhumjaithai Party secured a total of 193 parliamentary seats—the highest in the assembly—with 174 constituency seats and 19 party-list seats. It immediately became the leading party to form the government amid close observation of which parties have agreed to join the coalition.
As of today (13 Feb 2026), the Pheu Thai Party has accepted joining the Bhumjaithai Party, bringing the coalition's total support to 280 seats. However, attention remains on whether the Glatham Party will join.
On 12 Feb 2026, several small political parties gradually congratulated and expressed readiness to support the Bhumjaithai Party's government formation, including:
• The Economic Party, which holds 3 seats
• The New Democracy Party, which holds 1 seat
• The New Party, which holds 1 seat
Today (13 Feb 2026), the Pheu Thai Party, with 74 seats, confirmed its willingness to support Bhumjaithai in forming the government after official contact from Bhumjaithai leaders inviting discussions. Throughout the election campaign, Pheu Thai maintained no restrictions or conditions on collaborating with any political party.
• The Palang Pracharath Party, holding 5 seats, is currently in discussions with no official conclusion yet.
Major party with no movement yet
Meanwhile, the Glatham Party, with 58 seats, has not reportedly been approached by Bhumjaithai leaders for government participation.
Following Pheu Thai's announcement of support as a major party, the government formation equation has shifted significantly. Combining Bhumjaithai's 193 seats with backing from some smaller parties has clarified the new government's outlook. However, decisions by medium and large parties, especially those holding over 50 seats, remain crucial factors for the government's long-term stability.
