Heat index warning for Bangkok on 4 March 2026; closely monitoring for another major heatwave after 8 March.
The Heat Index is currently at a "warning" level.
General public: reduce outdoor activities between 11:00 and 15:00; at-risk groups: seek medical attention immediately if experiencing abnormal symptoms.
Districts with the highest heat include Nong Chok, Lat Krabang, Min Buri, Prawet, Khlong Sam Wa, and Lak Si.
You can follow air quality reports on the website airbkk.com and the AirBKK application.
The Heat Index indicates how hot our bodies actually feel, which is often higher than the temperature measured by a thermometer.
What exactly is the Heat Index?
The Heat Index is calculated by combining air temperature with relative humidity, because high humidity makes sweat evaporate less effectively, reducing the body's ability to cool down. This causes us to feel hotter than the actual temperature, which can be dangerous to health.
Situation in Bangkok (from 4 March 2026 onwards).
Weather forecasts and heat warnings this week show that Bangkok and its vicinity are under an "orange warning" level, meaning the heat index exceeds 41°C, with details as follows:
• Monitoring period: from 4 March until at least 7 March 2026.
• Severity level: classified as Danger.
◦ Possible symptoms: heat exhaustion and a high risk of heat stroke if exposed to outdoor activities for extended periods.
• Outlook: After 8 March, a new high-pressure system may reduce the heat somewhat, but daily updates from the Meteorological Department should be closely followed.
When the heat index is at warning level, the following measures are advised:
1. Drink water frequently; do not wait until you feel thirsty.
2. Avoid outdoor activities, especially between 11:00 and 16:00.
3. Wear breathable clothing, such as light-colored cotton fabrics.
4. Monitor your condition: if you feel dizzy, nauseous, or have a high body temperature without sweating, move to shade and administer first aid immediately.
