Cambodia Faces Fuel Shortage Ministry of Commerce Urges Public Transport Use as Some Gas Stations Temporarily Close

Cambodia is experiencing a fuel shortage. The Ministry of Commerce urges reserving fuel for public transport use, as some gas stations are temporarily closing.

According to Cambodian news agency Thmey Thmey, on 10 Mar 2026, the Ministry of Commerce advised fuel stations and depots to prioritize supplying fuel to ambulances, fire trucks, and public service vehicles, as well as farmers and those involved in production and logistics supply chains.

Yesterday, 9 Mar 2026, reports indicated that in Phnom Penh, several suburban gas stations temporarily suspended operations while waiting for new fuel deliveries as their previous supplies were depleted. Notably, two TOTAL stations at the Wheat Roundabout and at the corner of 20A Street and Kravath City Road have been temporarily closed since the evening of 9 March. Additionally, several gas stations along National Highway 3 also suspended services temporarily.

The Ministry of Commerce warned that fuel prices will continue to rise on 11 March. Meanwhile, the Ministry urged the public to reduce unnecessary fuel hoarding, which could increase fire risks and negatively impact property and equipment lifespan.
