Liquid Soap Causes Cancer? Fake News Warning Not to Believe!

There have been claims circulating that using liquid soap is life-threatening and causes cancer. The truth is "not true," confirmed by the National Cancer Institute and experts as follows.

1. The SLS ingredient in liquid soap is not as dangerous as believed.

SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), found in liquid soap, shampoo, or toothpaste, is a cleansing agent and foaming agent, which:

  • Is approved: The FDA permits its use in cosmetics within legally specified amounts.

  • Is not carcinogenic: Currently, no research confirms that daily use causes cancer.

2. The chance of carcinogen formation is "so low it's nearly impossible."

Although SLS can react with amine compounds to form nitrosamines (carcinogens), this requires specific conditions such as temperatures above 180°C, which normal bathing never reaches.

3. The real side effects (not cancer).

What to really watch for is "irritation," especially:

  • Irritation of eyes or skin.

  • Depending on concentration, exposure time, and individual skin conditions.

✅ How to safely choose liquid soap.

  1. Choose products with registration numbers: Buy from trusted sources and check the registration number on the label.

  2. For sensitive skin: To avoid irritation, select products labeled “Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Free.”
