It was a beautiful and historically meaningful scene for international relations when Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom, Princess Anne, accompanied by her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, made an official visit to Thailand from 16–17 July 2026 to continue the long-standing good relations between the two royal families.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn warmly welcomed the Princess at Chulalongkorn University and engaged in cordial conversations.
This visit marks Princess Anne's fourth time visiting Thailand, reflecting the close and enduring bond between the nations. Previously, she visited Thailand three times:
A key highlight of the visit to Chulalongkorn University was the focus on advancing and honoring women's roles in science. Princess Anne graciously met closely with Thai female researchers and innovators.
Additionally, the royal couple viewed an exhibition showcasing distinguished collaborative work between the UK and Thailand in science, technology, and innovation, demonstrating the potential of Thai researchers working with leading UK institutions to drive global change.
Nurturing Seeds of Knowledge: Princess Anne awarded Women in STEM scholarships from the British Council, including funding for research studies in the UK, supporting Thai women scientists and researchers to develop their capabilities at world-class educational and research institutions.
This visit not only strengthens the diplomatic ties that have lasted for decades but also marks a milestone in announcing a new era of educational collaboration focused on breaking gender barriers in science and jointly driving innovation to address future global challenges.
