Enhancing auspiciousness for Asalha Puja Day 2026, the faith-powered Full Moon Wednesday event at Wat Paramaiyikawat Worawihan, Koh Kret, Nonthaburi, presents a grand ceremony: "Phra Upakut Rising from the Ocean Navel." 


Prepare to witness a powerful faith phenomenon in Nonthaburi province at the "Miraculous Full Moon Wednesday" event, featuring the ceremony of Phra Upakut rising from the ocean navel, allowing Buddhists to pay respects, seek blessings, and enhance merit and wealth according to ancient beliefs.

The event has the honor of Mr. Settha Mosikhanat, Governor of Nonthaburi Province, serving as the ceremony's chairman and joining in the ritual of raising Phra Upakut from the water amidst the sacred atmosphere of the full moon night.

Announcing the two-day auspicious merit schedule on 28 - 29 July 2026 at Wat Paramaiyikawat Worawihan, Koh Kret.

All merit-makers are warmly invited to participate in the key ceremonies as scheduled below.

Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (Night entering Full Moon Wednesday)

  • 20:00 | Buddhist monks chant the Buddha's teachings.
  • 21:09 | Venerable Phra Wachirangsi leads the invocation of Phra Upakut.
  • 21:39 | The main highlight! The ceremony of Phra Upakut rising from the ocean navel, followed by a procession of Phra Upakut around the temple to the Phra Upakut shrine.
  • 00:01 | Phra Upakut is brought out to receive alms on Full Moon Wednesday night (midnight alms offering).



Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (Asalha Puja Day)

  • 15:00 | Buddhist monks chant the Buddha's teachings.
  • 17:39 | Ceremony for casting the Phra Upakut statue in the alms bowl posture.
  • 18:30 | Candlelight procession for Asalha Puja Day.
  • 19:59 | Ritual offering and blessing to Phra Upakut on Full Moon Wednesday.
  • 21:39 | Ceremony returning Phra Upakut to the ocean navel.

Ancient belief holds that Phra Upakut is an arhat with mystical powers who meditates beneath the ocean navel. On the Full Moon night that falls on Wednesday, he transforms into a novice monk to aid beings and receive alms in the human world. Those who make merit by offering alms or join the ceremonies on this night are said to achieve success, prosperity with flowing wealth, and elimination of all obstacles.
