The Department of Highways and Highway Police are preparing to launch a free trial run of the M6 Motorway, Bang Pa-in to Nakhon Ratchasima route, starting from Friday, 21 August 2026, at 12:00 noon. This free trial service will continue every weekend throughout 2026.
The trial service focuses on weekend travel, allowing free use from every Friday at 12:00 noon until Sunday at midnight.
There are strict safety rules and conditions that users must follow:
Only 4-wheel vehicles are allowed, such as sedans, pickup trucks, and SUVs.
The speed is limited to no more than 80 kilometers per hour for safety throughout the trial route.
Setting up shops or selling goods along the motorway route is strictly prohibited.
Traffic management and entry/exit points have been organized by travel direction as follows:
Outbound, heading from Bangkok to the Northeast: drivers can enter the M6 from the Bang Pa-in toll plaza and travel straight to the Nakhon Ratchasima bypass or choose to exit at the Pak Chong toll plaza (Thanarat Road). This arrangement helps effectively reduce traffic congestion on Mittraphap Road between Saraburi and Pak Chong.
Return trip, heading from Nakhon Ratchasima to Bangkok: travelers can enter M6 from the Nakhon Ratchasima bypass but must exit at the Pak Chong toll plaza (Thanarat Road) to temporarily use Mittraphap Road. They can then re-enter the M6 at the Muak Lek toll plaza for a direct route through Bang Pa-in toll plaza back to Bangkok.
The Highway Police have issued important safety reminders for route users.
The Wang Noi and Saraburi toll plazas are not yet open for entry or exit at this time.
During this trial period, there are no rest stops or fully operational gas stations on the M6 route, so drivers should refuel or fully charge electric vehicles (EVs), eat, and use restroom facilities before entering the motorway.
