Military Assists at Four Border Points in Sisaket as Over 70% of Homes Damaged

Military assists residents at four border points in Sisaket Province after over 70% of local homes were damaged by BM-21 rockets. Repairs are expected to require considerable time to complete due to the extent of the damage caused.

After the ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, residents along the border gradually returned home. Many houses suffered severe damage, such as those in Ban Sao Thong Chai, Sao Thong Chai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, where BM-21 rockets caused over 70% damage. Thairath TV's team, upon surveying the area, informed the Second Army Region, which then provided initial essential supplies to three households and donated consumer goods to Kantarlak Thammaram Temple in Nong Ya Lat Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket. The temple has operated a community kitchen feeding border soldiers and local residents since 9 Dec 2025.

Military representatives visited Ban Sao Thong Chai, Sao Thong Chai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, on 2 Jan 2026. Led by Lt. Natthakorn Kaewgamkhet, head of the 218th Suranaree Task Force unit, alongside Col. Apiwat Chantrawichit, head of the Suranaree Task Force operations, they offered encouragement to Ms. Duangrutai Pengsomya, whose home was damaged by BM-21 rockets during the border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia on 13 Dec 2025, resulting in over 70% damage to her house.

They also presented morale-boosting supplies to those whose homes were damaged and discussed the situation and local residents’ preparations for evacuation in Ban Sao Thong Chai prior to the incident.

Meanwhile, on 3 Jan 2026, at the Second Army Region's Tactical Command in Surin, additional consumer goods were sent to support the kitchen at Kantarlak Thammaram Temple in Nong Ya Lat Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province. The temple has been providing meals for border soldiers and local residents since 9 Dec 2025.
