Sonthiya is preparing to file complaints with the DSI and the NACC to investigate the Land Transport Department and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute for refusing to register large vehicles with old engines and used vehicle bodies imported from abroad, suggesting a lack of transparency and possible corruption, causing damage to operators.
Mr. Sonthiya Sawasdee, founder of the Thammarat Party, revealed that on Friday, 13 March 2026 GMT+7, he will submit a complaint to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate two agencies: the Land Transport Department and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI).
The case concerns importers of large vehicles and large old diesel engines, as well as used vehicle bodies imported from abroad for sale to small transport operators, a practice ongoing for more than ten years.
Currently, there is a problem with the TISI and the Land Transport Department not registering these two types of vehicles without reasonable justification, causing harm to importers, buyers, and small businesses that have already completed purchase processes, because both agencies refuse to inspect and register these vehicles.
He received complaints about this unfair treatment of operators and possible non-transparent or corrupt actions, so he calls on the DSI to investigate the facts and proceed legally.
He also urges the NACC to investigate the executives of the Land Transport Department and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute for negligence that has caused damage to operators, so that the NACC can take action against both agencies.
For fairness to all parties, the news team will follow up with statements from the Land Transport Department and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute for further reporting.
