Who Provided Assurance? Dr. Leepong Questions After Thai Ship Attacked in Strait of Hormuz

Attack on Thai ship Mayuree Naree: "Who provided assurance?" Dr. Leepong questions the incident after the Thai ship was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, urging relevant agencies to provide answers.

On 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7, regarding the Thai commercial vessel Mayuree Naree Bangkok being fired upon in the Strait of Hormuz within Oman's waters, the Navy reported that the Bahrain-based naval forces used diplomatic channels to seek Oman's assistance to help all crew members.

Meanwhile, Iran expert Dr. Leepong Saryid, a professor in the Department of Political Islam at Al-Mustafa International University in Iran and president of the Thai-Iranian Alumni Association, posted on Facebook that the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy stated, "All ships wishing to pass must obtain permission solely from Iran."

Admiral Tang Seery, commander of the IRGC Navy, asked, "Who has given these ships the assurance that they can safely transit the Strait of Hormuz?"

He said this question should be posed to the crews of the Express Rome and Mayuree Naree ships, who today apparently trusted empty promises from unknown sources, ignored all warnings from us, attempted to pass through the strait, but were ultimately stopped.

The IRGC public relations office declared, "The American aggressors and their allies have no right to pass through the Strait of Hormuz."

The Express Rome, reportedly an Israeli-owned vessel flying the Liberian flag, was fired upon by Iranian forces after ignoring warnings from the IRGC Navy and was forced to halt.

Similarly, the container ship Mayuree Naree, just hours earlier, disregarded warning signals and IRGC Navy cautions and unlawfully insisted on passing through the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Iranian combatants to open fire in response.

The Strait of Hormuz is carefully controlled and managed by the brave naval forces of the IRGC without any doubt. American aggressors and their allies have no right to transit.

The question remains: Who ordered these ships to pass, and why did they ignore the prohibition during wartime? Relevant agencies are urged to clarify this issue.
