Tracing the mysterious disappearance of a Thai woman in Laos reveals suspicious behavior by her foreign husband. CCTV footage clearly shows them crossing together, but only the husband returns. He then hurriedly washed the car before returning the rental and immediately flew back to America.
Today, 30 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mirror Foundation is following the case of "Khun Ann Thasanee," 46, from Phetchabun province, who mysteriously disappeared in Laos after traveling with "Mr. George," her American ex-husband, in late 2025. He returned to Thailand alone before flying on to the U.S.
After three on-site investigations by the Mirror Foundation in Laos, they traced the timeline to the last known point before contact was lost, suspected to be in the "Vang Vieng" area, about 130 km from the capital, Vientiane.
CCTV footage clearly indicates that two people went in, but only one returned, as follows:
On 29 Dec 2025 at 17:17, the rental car was seen passing the toll gate entering Vang Vieng, with Khun Ann sitting beside the driver, clearly accompanied by her ex-husband.
From the afternoon of 30 Dec onward, Khun Ann stopped reading messages and could no longer be contacted.
On 31 Dec at 07:16, the same vehicle passed the Vang Vieng exit toll gate, driven only by the ex-husband; the passenger seat was empty.
The period from the afternoon of 30 Dec to the morning of 31 Dec is the suspicious timeframe when harm may have occurred to Khun Ann.
The ex-husband quickly returned to the U.S., refused to provide information, never participated in search efforts, and is currently unreachable.
The Mirror Foundation following the case of "Khun Ann Thasanee," 46, from Phetchabun, uncovered clear suspicious details as follows.
First suspicious point: At 10:00 on 31 Dec 2025, when Khun Ann was unreachable, the ex-husband drove alone to a hotel in Vientiane, did not check in, but washed and cleaned the car before calling the rental company to collect the vehicle at the hotel.
Second suspicious point: Rental staff who had met Khun Ann at the car pickup asked about her. The ex-husband said she was "staying at the hotel," though only one room was booked under his name.
Third suspicious point: Hotel staff reported that after washing the car, the ex-husband complained about missing a gold necklace and ring, which were later found in his own bag. Relatives believe these were items Khun Ann had been wearing.
After returning the car in the afternoon, the ex-husband left the hotel immediately and crossed back into Thailand at 14:43.
The Mirror Foundation team traced CCTV footage showing a white SUV with a rear spare tire passing through the Hmong Village 52 area on 29 Dec 2025 before contact was lost.
Based on the vehicle's features and spare tire position, it was narrowed down to a few models. The team checked car rental companies in Vientiane and found the vehicle both had rented, equipped with a GPS system.
Unfortunately, the GPS tracking system only stores route data for 30 days, so the data was erased a few days before the vehicle was found. They are currently coordinating with the Chinese GPS service provider to attempt data recovery.
The latest update: the Mirror Foundation will accompany Khun Ann Thasanee’s relatives to submit a letter to the Royal Thai Police on Friday, 1 May 2026, requesting that authorities expedite investigation and cooperation with Lao officials.
