Thairath Online's special team sought comment from Lieutenant Commander Detthorn Saeng-amnat, Director of Thonburi District, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), regarding Ms. Siriporn, a registrar accused of involvement with fake fathers registering births for Chinese nationals. He revealed the official was previously involved in another case and has recently been re-arrested. Police traced the network to hospital staff and fake fathers allegedly running the scheme. Ms. Siriporn is currently not serving as a registrar because she was reassigned to assist in another department and no longer performs registrar duties. The district awaits official paperwork to determine disciplinary actions. Previously, when she was first arrested, an inquiry committee was appointed. For this latest case, the district is waiting for police evidence, which was sent to the Bangkok governor but has not yet reached the district.Tags: [staff reassignment, disciplinary action, investigation status]

When asked about police evidence including blank birth certificates allegedly signed by suspects to facilitate forgery, Lieutenant Commander Detthorn said many cases require re-examination. Last week, the Department of Provincial Administration requested information on birth registrations involving one Thai parent and one foreign parent, asking the district for documents on 45 cases. The district has sent all details to the department.Tags: [birth certificate forgery, evidence review, interdepartmental cooperation]

A hospital staff member in Thonburi accused of corruption in registering births for Chinese children with false Thai paternity has reportedly accepted bribes from Chinese nationals. Thairath Online interviewed Emeritus Prof. Dr. Amorn Leelarasamee, former President of the Medical Association of Thailand and Medical Council board member, who explained that hospitals usually handle birth registrations to avoid delays at the registry office. Such administrative tasks are typically performed by staff, with doctors or senior personnel generally uninvolved.Tags: [hospital staff, corruption, birth registration, Medical Association]

He personally suspects document forgery since delivery doctors must sign birth certificates. Likely, staff forged doctors' signatures because if doctors signed fraudulently, they would face severe legal penalties. The Medical Council has consistently emphasized this point.Tags: [document forgery, doctors' signatures, legal penalties, Medical Council]

The Medical Council plans to investigate which hospital doctors may have erred allowing the signing of birth certificates for Chinese children with falsified registrations. At the same time, they warn all doctors nationwide to exercise caution when signing birth documents to prevent future forgery.Tags: [Medical Council investigation, doctor responsibility, document fraud prevention]
