A close associate of the Nonthaburi PAO chief recalled that “Chalong” spoke only a few words before shooting Pol. Col. Thongchai. Four bullets lodged in his body; the motive remains under investigation.
Today, 10 Aug 2026, in Nonthaburi, reports confirm that former MP Chalong Ruangreng attacked and shot Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, chief of the Nonthaburi PAO, at the PAO office. The incident occurred at approximately 11:29 a.m.
Thairath Online’s special reporting team contacted Mr. Pornchai Yimklip, a close associate of Pol. Col. Thongchai, who said the motive for the shooting is still unknown. The injured man has been taken to Phra Nang Klao Hospital.
At the time of the incident, as Pol. Col. Thongchai was preparing to leave in his car, the attacker approached and spoke near the vehicle. During the brief exchange, Pol. Col. Thongchai rolled down his window and spoke only two to three words with the assailant before the shooter immediately fired four shots into the vehicle, targeting the passenger side.
Doctors are currently performing surgery to remove bullets lodged above the eyebrow, neck, and shoulder. Further updates will be provided by the news team.
