The Chonburi Commerce Authority is strictly regulating price displays ahead of the visit by 5,000 U.S. Navy personnel to Pattaya, emphasizing a ban on price gouging.
Today (1 September 2026) at 11:00 a.m., Mr. Anusak Piriyaomorn, District Chief of Bang Lamung, along with Ms. Hathairat Keeriwan, Chonburi Provincial Commerce Officer, Pattaya public health officials, the Chonburi Internal Security Operations Command, and related agencies visited Terminal 21 Pattaya shopping mall to monitor the sale of goods and services. This is in preparation for approximately 5,000 U.S. Navy and Marine personnel from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and two accompanying ships scheduled to dock at Laem Chabang port, Chonburi Province, between 2 and 6 September 2026.
This inspection focuses on ensuring that business operators clearly display prices for goods and services to prevent opportunistic price hikes. It also involves checking the quality of raw materials, cleanliness, and food safety standards to build confidence among international tourists and local residents.
Ms. Hathairat Keeriwan, Chonburi Provincial Commerce Officer, said the arrival of U.S. personnel is a key opportunity to stimulate Pattaya’s economy and surrounding areas. Officials will monitor compliance with laws by business operators, especially regarding price displays, so consumers can make purchasing decisions with confidence.
Mr. Anusak Piriyaomorn, District Chief of Bang Lamung, stated that Chonburi Province has instructed all agencies to prepare for the arrival of U.S. personnel by ensuring safety, facilitating convenience, and maintaining fairness in trade. Continuous patrol teams have been deployed to monitor the situation.
He emphasized that if residents or tourists find shops not displaying prices or engaging in opportunistic price increases for goods and services, they can file complaints through the Bang Lamung District Complaint Center for officials to investigate and take legal action.
Terminal 21 Pattaya shopping mall has cooperated with government agencies by encouraging shops within the mall to be good hosts, transparently display prices, and maintain service standards across retail stores, food courts, and general restaurants to impress visitors.
This welcoming of U.S. personnel not only promotes tourism and the local economy but also reflects Pattaya and Chonburi Province’s image as an international tourist destination ready to host visitors fairly and with high service standards.
