A special public holiday is set for Bangkok on Friday, 16 October 2026, along with designated work-from-home (WFH) days to alleviate traffic issues and maximize readiness to host the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (World Bank - IMF Annual Meetings 2026). This is a prestigious global national agenda for which Thailand is honored to serve as host.

To facilitate travel, ensure security for global dignitaries, and reduce traffic congestion in Bangkok, the government has implemented the following measures.

For financial institutions (banks), state enterprises, educational institutions, and the private sector, especially businesses and offices located around the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the government requests consideration of appropriate measures such as adopting work-from-home policies or adjusting operating hours. Commercial banks and financial institutions will await official guidelines from the Bank of Thailand (Bank of Thailand) once again.
