Kamnan Mano, also known as Mr. Mano, currently serves as the headman of Krabi Noi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Krabi Province. His background includes completing primary education before ordaining at Wat Kaew Korawaram in Krabi Province for two years, where he earned the rank of Nak Tham Tho and Pali scripture levels 1–2.

His activism path includes a long-standing role in grassroots movements and as a local leader in the South before founding the “People’s Revolutionary Coalition to Protect the Land” (NPP) group to address urgent local community issues.

He is known as a tough local leader with straightforward speech and has a solid network of peasant supporters throughout the southern region.

Why did the mob march on Government House?

The main trigger for this mobilization to Bangkok was the ongoing crisis of rising living costs and fuel prices, which southern farmers and citizens can no longer bear.

Two main demands:

Demanding answers on fuel prices and livelihood issues, they set the condition that the government immediately cut fuel prices by 10 baht per liter to reduce transportation costs and living expenses, clearly stating, “If the government does not reduce fuel prices, we will not retreat.”

A serious crackdown on drugs is demanded, urging the government to make it an urgent priority after a severe resurgence of local drug problems.

Meanwhile, the government spokesperson explained ongoing measures including fuel tax reductions on B20/E20 fuels and continuous efforts to support agricultural product prices.

Close attention is on whether negotiations between government representatives and the “Kamnan Mano” group at Government House will find a mutual solution or spark a new wave of political conflict.
