The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has assessed the fitness of the Thai Asian Games team as very strong, with overall results rated from good to excellent, ready to pursue 15 gold medals for the Thai people.
On 7 July 2026, updates on the Thai national athletes preparing for the 20th Asian Games, scheduled from 19 September to 4 October 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, were provided. Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), revealed that "After conducting two rounds of physical fitness assessments, the Thai athletes have met the standards satisfactorily with good results."
"Every Thai national athlete for the Asian Games must undergo three physical fitness tests as per regulations, with the final test scheduled between 16 June and 31 August 2026. The previous two tests, conducted from February to June 2026, showed that overall, more than 81 percent of athletes scored at a good level, which is very encouraging. However, the SAT aims to further raise this to as many athletes as possible reaching an excellent level."
"Regarding the results from the two fitness tests so far, 25 percent of athletes scored at an excellent level, 56 percent at a good level, 16.6 percent at an average level, and 2.6 percent at a low level. Those in the average group need to improve to good, and those currently at good should strive to reach excellent."
"Good physical readiness is a crucial foundation enabling athletes to fully demonstrate their skills and techniques during competition. The SAT and all 47 sports associations of Thailand have set a joint goal to achieve no fewer than 15 gold medals at this Asian Games."
