Thailand's volleyball announced sending their best athletes, both men's and women's teams, indoor and beach, to participate in the 20th Asian Games in Japan, fully supported by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), aiming to win at least two medals.
On 23 July 2026, updates on Thailand's national volleyball teams—men's and women's, indoor and beach—preparing to compete in the 20th Asian Games from 19 September to 4 October 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Recently, Somporn Saibanyakong, president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, revealed that the association has continuously held training camps for the national teams, especially the women's indoor team training at the volleyball courts within the Sports Science Center of the Sports Authority of Thailand. They have competed regularly in international tournaments, most recently completing the 2026 Nations League. Upcoming events include the 2026 VTV Cup with the first leg from 31 July to 2 August in Hanoi, Vietnam, and the second leg from 7 to 9 August in Chiang Mai, Thailand, followed by the 2026 Asian Championship from 21 to 30 August in Tianjin, China. The champion of this event will qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, serving as an important test before the Asian Games.
The president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand added, "For this Asian Games, the association will certainly send the best athletes to compete in all categories—men's and women's indoor and beach volleyball teams. Our goal is to win at least two medals. Especially for the women's indoor team, which won bronze at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, we hope to achieve at least the same or better results, even though it will be a challenging task."
