Thai Team Strong Ahead of 2026 Asian Games SAT Emphasizes Sports Science and Nutrition

The Thai team preparing for the 20th Asian Games in Japan has raised their fitness level to very good one month before the competition, while the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) focuses strongly on sports science and nutrition to support them.

Updates on the Thai national athletes participating in the 20th Asian Games from 19 September to 4 October 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, show that the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), which oversees their preparation, places great emphasis on sports science and nutrition to maximize athlete strength.

Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of SAT, revealed that about one month before the competition starts, the athletes' fitness has steadily improved. SAT conducted three physical fitness tests, with the Sports Science Center reporting that most athletes' fitness levels have risen from moderate to good and very good, in line with their planned targets.

The SAT Governor added that SAT uses various technologies to plan recovery and enhance athletes’ physical fitness. Overall, the Thai team is in very good shape. At the same time, SAT has advised all sports associations to be cautious about food and medication intake to prevent doping issues.

Additionally, SAT has taken full responsibility for athletes' nutrition by partnering with Ajinomoto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to establish a fully equipped nutrition center for the Thai national team starting 1 July 2026 at SAT Huamark, capable of serving up to 300 athletes daily.

"Food service at the SAT nutrition center will not be buffet style. Staff from the Sports Science Center together with Ajinomoto (Thailand) personnel will customize nutrition plans for each athlete, providing three meal types: for heavy training days, moderate training days, and rest days. They will consult with athletes about their training programs and then calculate appropriate nutrition-based meals individually," Dr. Kongsak explained.

Finally, Dr. Kongsak stated that the SAT nutrition center is designed to support Thai national athletes for both the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Para Games from 18-24 October 2026. Ajinomoto (Thailand), a Japanese company, will collaborate with SAT to provide nutrition services at the Thai House center during both major Asian events held in Japan.
