Thai golf sends “Pro Piano” Aphichaya Yubol, holder of two gold medals from the 19th Asian Games, to lead the team in defending their championship at the 20th Asian Games. She revealed that three major competing nations vying for medals are host Japan, South Korea, and China.
On 11 Sep 2026, updates emerged on the Thai national golf team preparing for the 20th Asian Games from 19 Sep to 4 Oct 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Golf competition is scheduled from 30 Sep to 3 Oct 2026 at Kasugai Country Club (East Course), supported by the Sports Authority of Thailand and the National Sports Development Fund. The event features four gold medals: men's individual, women's individual, men's team, and women's team. Each country can send up to six athletes, three men and three women.
Kittisak Chaimongkoltrakool, secretary and competition committee member of the Golf Association of Thailand, stated the women's team will be led by “Pro Piano” Aphichaya Yubol, who won two gold medals in women's individual and team events at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Also included is “Pro Plai” Patcharajuta Kongkaphan, part of the gold-winning team in Hangzhou, and “Sim 300” Natkrita Wongtaveelap. The men's team consists of “Pro Phet” Sodom Kaewkanjana, “Pro Phum” Phum Saksansilp, and “Fifa” Pongsapak Laophakdee, all still amateur golfers, coached by Preecha Senaprom and Pompet Saraputthi.
The secretary added that at this Asian Games, formidable opponents include Japan, which has several skilled players and the advantage of familiar home courses. South Korea and China are also strong contenders not to be overlooked. Nevertheless, the association is confident that Thai golfers match or exceed the skill level of all Asian rivals and remain strong contenders for gold medals again.
“At the last Asian Games, we won two gold medals in women's individual and team events, plus one silver in the men's team. This time, we aim to secure at least one gold medal,” said Kittisak.
