On 16 Sep 2026, Plawan Piyanuch Paennoi, the experienced libero of the Thai women's national volleyball team, spoke after the first group C match of the 2026 Asian Games held in Japan.
The Thai women's volleyball team, ranked 13th in the world and recent winners of the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship securing a spot at the 2028 Olympics, defeated Mongolia, ranked 130th globally, 3-0 with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-18, earning their first three points as planned.
Although the victory was decisive, Piyanuch Paennoi admitted that Mongolia has improved greatly, scoring several points against the Thai team. "Today, we were quite impressed with the Mongolian team because they have developed a lot in almost every skill."
"They have a key player, number 2 (Nergui Kosbayar), who spikes quite powerfully. We gradually adjusted during the first 10 points and continued to adapt until 25 points. Overall, we performed well. Today was also a form of practice before facing our next opponents."
"(Regarding physical condition after consecutive matches) We do feel some fatigue, but we rest well and maintain our bodies properly. Coach Oat pays close attention to our physical care because consecutive matches demand a lot physically, so he takes good care of us."

The Thai women's volleyball team will play their second group C match at the 2026 Asian Games against Kyrgyzstan, ranked 118th in the world, on 17 Sep 2026 at 17:00 Thailand time. The match will be broadcast live on PPTV HD 36 and the AIS PLAY app.
