On 17 September 2026, Netipong Srithong-in, head coach of the Thai women's national football team, gave an interview following their 0-1 group stage loss to Chinese Taipei in the 2026 Asian Games, Group E match.
This result means the "Chaba Kaew," Thailand's women's national football team, has lost both of their first two matches in Group E of the 2026 Asian Games, remaining without points and will have to rely on the final match against Vietnam on Monday, 21 September.
Coach Alfred Netipong Srithong-in addressed two key points regarding this game:
- "I think this was a very evenly matched game. Both teams had chances to score; they converted theirs, but we did not. That’s football."
"As I mentioned before when we played Japan, we tried to play our game and learned a lot from that match. Japan has great speed. For this game, we also tried to adjust accordingly."
- "I believe we can perform better against Vietnam. This game was satisfactory, especially defensively, which was good. Our attack still needs improvement, but overall it was okay."
"Regarding the substitutions made in the first half, they were tactical decisions because we needed faster wingers. We could attack through the flanks but struggled through the center, so I thought the changes would improve the situation—and indeed they did."
"However, I wanted players who could hold the ball and wait for teammates to support the attack. The substitutions were tactical, not due to the players’ physical condition."
"The team atmosphere is okay; everyone is satisfied with their performance despite the losses. Against Vietnam, we will set tactics to play offensively because we must win to qualify for the next round as one of the best third-placed teams."
