Netipong Sritong-In, head coach of the Thailand women's national football team, shared his feelings after the team was eliminated in the first round of the Asian Games 2026 without scoring any goals.
On 21 Sep 2026, Netipong Sritong-In, head coach of the Thailand women's national football team, gave an interview following the women’s football group stage match in Group E of the Asian Games 2026. In the third match, Thailand drew 0-0 with Vietnam, resulting in Thailand finishing 4th in the group with 1 point, equal to Vietnam but with an inferior goal difference.
"Today's match was always going to be tough when facing Vietnam, a team we frequently meet and compete against. Usually, these games are very close in terms of play and skill level. Today, they played without much pressure," Alfred said.
"I never use excuses like 'we were unlucky.' There is no such thing as bad luck. We just played decently but failed to score. It's purely about finishing. We had many clear chances but couldn’t convert them. That’s football," he said.
"Regarding experience, as I mentioned, we had a great opportunity to compete against Japan, which allowed us to learn and gather valuable information on how to improve. After that, we faced two teams ranked higher than us globally, and we performed quite well. We conceded a goal to Taiwan late in the game from a very good shot. So, for me, it was very good experience, and we did well after the Japan match. Overall, it’s acceptable for us," he concluded.
The Chaba Kaew, Thailand's women's national football team, will return immediately, arriving at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on 22 September 2026 at 21:30 local time.
