28 Years in Waiting: Thai Eventing Team Wins Gold at 2026 Asian Games, Thailand's 5th Medal
On 23 September 2026 GMT+7, the Thai athletes won another gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games today, bringing Thailand’s total to five medals in the equestrian eventing team competition.
This fifth gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games comes from the performance of the four members of the Thai national equestrian team as follows:
1. Korthawat Samran with horse B.Grimm Billy Elmy
2. Major Supap Khaowngam with horse Vinetto 3
3. Woraphat Sitthichu with horse B.Grimm Uster de Chanay
4. Weeraphat Pitkanon with horse B.Grimm Carnival March
The Thai national eventing team recorded the lowest penalty score after completing all three phases with 109.90 points, claiming the gold medal. Japan earned silver with 115.20 points, and South Korea took bronze with 143.50 points.
Additionally, Woraphat Sitthichu won a silver medal in the individual event with a score of 30.10 points. The gold medal went to Tian Hua from China with 26.90 points.
This is a historic medal for the Thai national eventing team, their first team gold in 28 years since the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok.
