Kulwut Wititsarn shared his feelings after winning the gold medal in men's singles badminton at the "Asian Games 2026."
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7, "View" Kulwut Wititsarn, a Thai national badminton player, expressed his feelings after defeating Low Kian Yew, the world No. 13 from Singapore, 2-0 in games with scores of 21-12, 21-16 in the badminton final at the Asian Games 2026, held at Ichinomiya City Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. This victory made him the first Thai badminton player in history to win an individual gold medal at the Asian Games.
"Honestly, I almost want to slap myself to see if this is real or if I'm dreaming. It's something I can't really put into words. Before the competition, my form wasn’t great, and all the opponents were well-prepared for this event. But today, I'm so happy it feels like I'm dreaming. It feels really great," said "View" Kulwut Wititsarn.
"I dedicate this medal to all Thai people currently facing flood disasters. I believe they are fighting much harder than I am. My role was just to compete on the court, but some have to wade through floodwaters to buy necessities and endure much tougher hardships. Finally, I want to thank all the seniors, supporters, family, and my coach. I want to offer this gold medal as encouragement to everyone."
