Biw Phuriphon opens up after winning the MVP award at the 2026 Asian Games.
“Biw Phuriphon” is extremely proud to win the MVP award at the 2026 Asian Games, calling it an unexpectedly great year for himself.
“Biw,” Police Senior Sergeant Major Phuriphon Boonsorn, a Thai national track and field athlete, said he feels very proud and honored to be chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026 Asian Games.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) awarded Biw Phuriphon for his outstanding performances on the track, winning two gold medals in the 100m and 200m races while setting new Asian Games records in both events, plus a silver medal in the mixed 4x100m relay.
Phuriphon said, “I feel very proud to receive this award. It is a very significant honor for me and my family. My mother is very happy that I received this award. I feel greatly honored.”
“I feel this year has been an unexpectedly good year for me in many ways — the medals and the records have exceeded my expectations by far.”
“I want to thank my family, especially my mother, who has always supported me. I also want to thank all Thai sports fans who have supported and encouraged me, as well as the Athletics Association.”
Biw Phuriphon departed from Thailand last night, heading to Nagoya, Japan, to prepare for the official MVP award ceremony.
The Asian Games MVP award has become a significant tradition since it was first presented at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. Biw Phuriphon is the first Thai athlete to receive this honor.
