Roy Keane, the famous football pundit, came out to criticize the key figure responsible for Manchester United being caught up by West Ham and forced to settle for a draw.
Roy Keane, former Manchester United captain, shook his head at the Red Devils' performance in their latest match after they were pegged back 1-1 by West Ham United late in the Premier League clash last night. He pointed to Ruben Amorim's substitutions as the reason for the team's decline in play, adding that substitute Mason Mount played like a schoolboy.
In this game, Manchester United took the lead 1-0 through Diogo Dalot in the 58th minute. Then Amorim made substitutions, bringing on Patrick Dorgu, Manuel Ugarte, and Mason Mount for Diogo Dalot, Mateus Cunha, and Joshua Zirkzee. However, West Ham equalized at the 83rd minute with a goal from Sunguete Magassa, which Keane found unacceptable.
Keane said, "When you look at this team's squad, considering the money they've spent, they lack depth, especially in the attacking areas."
"When you’re trying to close out a game, I looked at Mason Mount when he came on. I had expectations of him, but he played like a schoolboy, even though you’re looking for a player ready to come on and change the game."
"If anything, they (the substitutes who came on) made United’s level of play worse. That seemed to be the case tonight."
As a result of the draw, Manchester United missed the chance to rise to fifth place in the table, remaining only in eighth position.
