Alexander Isak Candid About His Form After Joining Liverpool at Record Fee But Falling Short of Expectations

Alexander Isak, Liverpool's new striker, spoke openly after scoring his first Premier League goal, saying he knows best that his form is not yet up to par and is ready to help the team turn the situation around.

On 6 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Alexander Isak, Liverpool's new forward, frankly admitted he has not performed well enough and declared he expects more from himself after a slow start with the new team due to injury.

The Swedish international striker moved from Newcastle United on the summer transfer deadline day and has played 12 matches for the Reds. A key period was disrupted by an injury in October, which delayed his adjustment more than expected.

However, Isak recently broke his Premier League scoring duck for Liverpool with a sharp finish in the 2-0 away win over West Ham United, a positive sign ahead of manager Jürgen Klopp's team visiting Leeds United on Saturday night.

Isak told Sky Sports that although things have not been smooth, he remains fully committed to raising his performance and helping the team continue winning.

"It's not easy, both for me and the team. We haven't had the best results recently, and I want to do more, that's clear," he said.

The 25-year-old striker emphasized he is the best judge of his own form and does not need anyone to tell him, continuing to work hard to fulfill his potential.

"I always expect more from myself. Even when I play well, I want to do better. That's not a problem. I know when I play well and when I don't," Isak added.

Despite recently scoring, he feels it is still too early to assess his or the team's season.

"I never draw conclusions about this period of the season. We have to wait until the end. There's still a lot of time and many goals to achieve. The best way is to focus on each game and start winning," he said.

Klopp's Liverpool urgently needs consistency, and the return of confidence from key new signing Isak could be crucial in turning the team's fortunes around during this important phase of the season.
