Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, criticized one team member for poor performance despite their away win over Crystal Palace.
Pep Guardiola, manager of the "Sky Blues" Manchester City, said he was satisfied with the overall game as his team won 3-0 away against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League last night, noting that visiting here is always challenging. However, he criticized Phil Foden's performance as still not good enough.
Pep said, "Visiting here is always a difficult game. They play very well attacking from the sides with Jeremy Pino, Mateta, and Ismaila Sarr. They defend very well. They are truly a good team. Just look at what they've done this season."
"We tried hard and played our own style, but sometimes we weren't at our best. Still, we can keep improving. We are in a good position and every player has performed excellently so far."
"But today, he (Phil Foden) did not play well. He lost the ball frequently and seemed rushed on every move. He needs to be calmer, keep possession, and adjust the tempo appropriately. Even so, he played for the team."
Meanwhile, Foden said, "Every time I come here, it’s a big challenge. I’m very happy to have scored at the right moment. It made us feel more relaxed. It was an important goal at a crucial time. I’m in good form, scoring a lot lately, and I hope it continues."
"I admit that in the first half I lost the ball many times and tried to do too much. The manager (Pep Guardiola) knows I can do better."
