Another clarification from Bruno Fernandes as he reveals why he will not renew his contract with Manchester United following reports that the club intended to sell him to Al Hilal last summer.
On 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder and captain of the "Red Devils" Manchester United, a leading Premier League club managed by fellow Portuguese Rúben Amorim, explained the reasons behind his decision not to renew his contract after rumors emerged that the club planned to sell him to Al Hilal, a prominent team in the Saudi Arabian league, during the past summer.
Looking back to last summer, Bruno Fernandes was strongly linked with a move to Al Hilal in the Saudi league, who were reportedly ready to pay a £100 million transfer fee (about 4.233 billion baht) and offer wages of £700,000 per week (approximately 29.6 million baht). However, the deal ultimately did not materialize because the player preferred to remain with a team competing in a top European league.
Recently, Bruno Fernandes stated, "I will not renew my contract with Manchester United if the club does not tell me that our goal is still to reach the highest level we possibly can. Our plan is to return to winning trophies, to become the club we once were."
