Liverpool must wait for the scan results of Alexander Isak's injury, sustained during their win over Tottenham Hotspur. James Pearce indicated the injury is to the ankle, not the knee.
On 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Liverpool faces tense waiting to assess the condition of striker Alexander Isak, valued at £125 million, after he was injured in the Premier League match where the Reds defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.
The 26-year-old Isak was brought on early in the second half and made an impact within 11 minutes by scoring the opening goal for Liverpool. However, he could not celebrate as Mickey van de Ven tackled him, causing an injury that required medical staff to assist him off the pitch.
Arne Slot, Liverpool's head coach, admitted after the match that the team could not yet specify Isak's recovery period and must await detailed examination.
“I have no news about him yet, but generally, if a player scores, gets injured, and cannot continue playing, it is usually not a good sign.”
“At this point, it's just a feeling; no medical data is available.”
However, James Pearce, Liverpool correspondent for The Athletic, reported that the situation might not be as severe as initially feared. Isak's injury is not at the knee, the area vulnerable to ACL damage, but rather at the ankle or lower leg.
Pearce added that Liverpool still awaits scan results to officially confirm the injury's severity. Meanwhile, concerning two other players, Conor Bradley and Florian Wirtz, the club hopes Bradley's injury is not serious and believes Wirtz's issue is likely just cramping.
Liverpool has yet to set a clear timetable for Isak's recovery, with both the club and fans hoping the Swedish international striker will return to help the team soon.
