Summer Spending Over £400 Million Still Not Enough! Liverpool Considers New Signings After Key Players Injured

Fabrizio Romano believes Liverpool is seriously considering re-entering the January transfer market after Alexander Isak suffered a serious injury.

On 25 Dec 2025 GMT+7, despite Liverpool spending more than £400 million to sign seven new players during the recent summer transfer window, the latest situation may force the Reds to return to the transfer market again this January.

Fabrizio Romano, the well-known transfer journalist, stated that Liverpool is seriously evaluating the situation after facing significant injury problems, especially Alexander Isak, who suffered severe injuries to his ankle and fractured left shinbone, requiring surgery and expected to be sidelined for at least 2–3 months.

Additionally, the team's defense has been impacted as young defender Giovanni Leoni suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, further reducing Liverpool's defensive options.

Romano revealed that Liverpool has not made a sudden decision but is considering moves according to a pre-planned strategy.

"Liverpool will assess the January transfer market situation but there is a possibility, as I mentioned before, that they may enter the market. Liverpool already has their plans in place."

The Italian journalist added that it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will strengthen just one position or as many as two, but what is clear is that the club has not ruled out any opportunities and is seriously considering the possibilities.

"We will see how many positions they reinforce, but Liverpool is seriously thinking about entering the January market."
