No more being runners-up! William Saliba boasts that Arsenal is strong enough to win titles after finishing as league runners-up three consecutive times.
On 26 Dec 2025 GMT+7, William Saliba, the French national team center-back for the "Gunners" Arsenal, expressed confidence that the team is good enough to win every competition they enter, after finishing as Premier League runners-up three seasons in a row, while also reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and Carabao Cup.
In the current season, Arsenal under Mikel Arteta leads both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, has reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals, and is scheduled to start the FA Cup against Portsmouth on 11 Jan 2026 GMT+7.
When asked whether Arsenal dares to think about multiple trophies, the French defender said, “Of course. We know we have a chance to win every competition we enter.”
“We came close in the Premier League over the past three seasons, and last season we reached the semi-finals of both the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.”
“We know we can win every trophy, but we have to prove it on the pitch and start winning titles.”
As for the "Gunners," they have not won a major trophy since the FA Cup in 2020, have not won the league since 2004, and have never won a European championship since 1994, including never having won the UEFA Champions League. Arsenal last won the Carabao Cup in 1993.
