Barcelona Fans Vote to Sell De Jong, Decide Rashfords Future: Buy or Return to Man United

Barcelona fans voted to sell Frenkie de Jong from the team and cast their votes to decide Marcus Rashford's future: whether to buy him outright or return him to Manchester United.

On 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mundo Deportivo surveyed 300 Barcelona fans asking whom they would like to see sold from the club in the summer of 2026. They also asked opinions on renewing Robert Lewandowski's contract, which expires at season's end, and whether to buy Marcus Rashford permanently after his loan. The results somewhat favored Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, and Rashford.

Barcelona fans are divided, but the majority support buying Marcus Rashford outright.

Although Marcus Rashford joined on loan in Spain, his performance seems to have won over many Catalan fans.

  • 54.66% support Barcelona exercising the option to buy Rashford outright for about £30 million (around 1.3 billion baht) after his impressive form, scoring 7 goals and providing 11 assists this season.
  • 35.66% voted to return him to Manchester United, believing he is not yet good enough.
  • 6.3% prefer to wait until the season ends before deciding.

End of the Lewandowski era? Missed penalty ruins new contract hopes.

Despite scoring 109 goals in 163 matches, most fans think Lewandowski should not renew his contract. The final straw was a missed penalty against Atlético Madrid, described by Spanish media as one of the worst penalties in La Liga history.

  • 59.3% believe Robert Lewandowski should not have his contract renewed when it expires at season's end.
  • However, only 2.3% want him sold immediately; most think he should leave as a free agent.

Frenkie de Jong was voted by 37.3% of members as the player they most want sold, followed closely by Ronald Araújo at 32.9%.

Surprisingly, even the club's "wonderkid" Lamine Yamal is not exempt, with two members wanting the 18-year-old, who once finished second in the Ballon d'Or, to leave the team as well.
