Ruben Amorim, manager of Manchester United, spoke candidly about Benjamin Sesko following their recent draw against Leeds United.
Ruben Amorim, manager of the "Red Devils" Manchester United, acknowledged understanding that Benjamin Sesko, the Slovenian international forward, faces pressure as the club's striker. However, he emphasized the need for Sesko to improve and develop himself after failing to score in the recent 1-1 Premier League draw at Leeds United last night.
Sesko transferred from RB Leipzig last summer for a total fee including add-ons of 85 million euros but has scored only 2 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
Amorim said, "We understand well the pressure that comes with being a Manchester United striker. Overall, he has performed well, but he needs to improve his finishing, which is the most crucial aspect."
"Sesko is completely different from Rasmus Højlund. Højlund had opportunities here but has now moved elsewhere. We brought Sesko in and are trying to help him score goals. He is doing what is necessary."
Regarding the Leeds game, "I think we controlled the game against Leeds quite well. They are strong in set pieces and second-ball situations. We lost the game due to small details, like the goal Leeds scored. We were controlling the game at that moment but lost rhythm from just one counterattack. Still, we managed to get back into the game."
About Joshua Serksy's performance, who had one assist, "I think Josh played well in the 25 minutes he was on the pitch. He coordinated very well with his teammates and showed that he has a lot more to offer."
