Dominik Szoboszlai revealed his leadership role within Liverpool both on and off the field, openly admitting that being captain of the Reds is an honor he dreams of.
On 8 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Dominik Szoboszlai is increasingly showing clear leadership within Liverpool, both through his on-field performance and his role off the field, during a period when the Reds are building their team under manager Arne Slot.
The Hungarian midfielder admitted he tries to show leadership through actions rather than words, especially by supporting teammates and maintaining constant communication on the pitch.
“It's not easy, but I try to show it on the field with my performance, and off the field I try to help everyone and be there for the team. I communicate constantly during matches,” Szoboszlai said.
When asked about the possibility of becoming Liverpool's captain in the future, the 25-year-old player did not hide his feelings and acknowledged that it is one of the highest dreams in his football career.
“I can imagine it, and I want to be. Certainly, being captain of Liverpool is a great honor. I think everyone wants to do that job, and if that time comes, I would be very happy.”
Beyond leadership, Szoboszlai also spoke about the team's objectives for the remainder of the season, emphasizing a game-by-game mindset, which he said is key to success.
“We have to look at it game by game and start by securing wins. That’s the first step to success. Then we see where the future takes us. We have many goals as a team, and those are what we want to achieve.”
Liverpool are currently unbeaten in nine consecutive matches ahead of their Premier League visit to Arsenal.
