Rosier Confident Chelsea Can Build a Young Team Like Manchester Uniteds Class of 92

Liam Rosier, Chelsea's new manager, looks far ahead, believing the young squad has the potential to rise as a title-challenging team like
Manchester United's 'Class of '92'.

On 10 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Liam Rosier, Chelsea's new manager, expressed confidence that the current 'Blues' squad has enough potential to achieve success like Manchester United's 'Class of '92', if the club trusts and gives time to its young players.

The 41-year-old coach is set to lead Chelsea in his official first match in the FA Cup third round, visiting Charlton Athletic this weekend, amid criticism about the team's lack of experience, as Chelsea currently has the youngest average squad age in the Premier League this season.

However, Rosier sees this not as an obstacle if everyone is willing to move in the same direction, citing Manchester United's success under Sir Alex Ferguson as an example.

"I clearly remember Sir Alex Ferguson daring to field six or seven players aged only 19 to 21 in a title-challenging team because he believed in them," Rosier said.

"What happened was they grew together and won title after title. It was a great era in the club's history, and without that courage, none of it would have happened."

The former Strasbourg coach admitted Chelsea cannot yet compare to Manchester United's past successes but confirmed the team's potential is real.

"There is potential here for that. It's not a reality yet, but it is potential."

"Take Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, or Reece James – these are world-class players, and they are still very young."

Rosier emphasized that Chelsea's ultimate goal is to build a team that achieves sustainable success, not just short-term results.

"This is the club's highest ambition. I'm not saying it will definitely happen or that I will deliver it all, but I will not limit Chelsea's ambition."

When asked about the 'Class of '92' having experienced players like Peter Schmeichel, Roy Keane, or Eric Cantona to support the team, Rosier confidently said Chelsea today has its own leaders.

"Age is one thing, but experience is another."

"Enzo is a World Cup winner and a leader. Reece has also won titles. I have players in this team who have already experienced success together."

"The project's aim here is to win trophies. The goal is to guide Chelsea to long-term success, whether it's me or whoever coaches the team in the future."
