Do you agree? Alan Shearer commented that Manchester United might appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to manage the team again in place of Ruben Amorim.
On 10 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Alan Shearer, the former star player who is now a football pundit, expressed his opinion on the issue that Manchester United, the famous Premier League club, might temporarily reappoint Norwegian coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to replace Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim.
A few days ago, Ruben Amorim was shockingly sacked by Manchester United after he publicly criticized the club’s executives during a press conference following a draw against Leeds United on 4 January. This led to his dismissal along with the departure of the three-man defense system.
Recently, Alan Shearer said, "If it really happens (Man Utd appointing Solskjaer), it would be very strange. I could understand if they appointed Darren Fletcher or Michael Carrick. I know Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played for this club and previously managed the team, but it would be very odd to go back to someone who was already sacked by the team. I don’t want them to fall into the same trap as in the past."
