The "Red Devils," Manchester United, have been reported to submit a bid to acquire a player valued at over one billion baht after their exit in the FA Cup third round.
On 13 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Spanish media outlet Fichajes reported that Manchester United, the Premier League giant, offered €35 million (approximately 1.277 billion baht) to sign the versatile Spanish international Marcos Llorente from Atlético Madrid to Old Trafford following their 1-2 loss to Brighton, which resulted in their FA Cup third round exit.
It is believed that Manchester United wants to strengthen their midfield after Manuel Ugarte's performance failed to impress, Casemiro is aging, and Kobbie Mainoo has yet to establish himself as a regular. They seek an experienced midfielder, and recent reports indicate that Llorente is the target United has been pursuing.
Reports state that Manchester United has officially submitted a €35 million offer for Llorente, viewing him as a "suitable signing" due to the 30-year-old's experience and all-around abilities.
Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has consistently trusted the Spanish player because of his strength and intelligence. Llorente can play in all midfield positions as well as on the wings, making him a versatile asset. It is believed United has been monitoring Llorente's form for some time.
Llorente has appeared in 20 matches across all competitions for Atlético Madrid, scoring 3 goals and assisting 3 times. He previously won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid in the 2017-18 season and was part of the squad that claimed the FIFA Club World Cup twice in 2017 and 2018. With Atlético Madrid, he has won the La Liga title once.
