Manchester United Player Candidly Admits He Once Considered Quitting Football After Last Years Injury

A Manchester United player from the prestigious English club openly admitted that he once thought about quitting football due to a severe incident last year.

On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Lisandro Martinez, the Argentine World Cup-winning defender of the "Red Devils", Manchester United, a top Premier League club, openly admitted without hesitation that he had once considered quitting football following a harsh incident last year.

This incident dates back to early February 2025 when Lisandro Martinez suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a match against the "Eagles", Crystal Palace, which forced him to take an extended break until the end of the 2024-25 season and almost through to mid-2025-26 season.

Recently, Lisandro Martinez spoke about this, saying, "Honestly, I thought about quitting football after my ACL injury last year. It was during the first 2-3 weeks after the injury that I didn’t want to play football anymore because I had previously broken a foot, and now my knee was broken too. It was a very tough situation at that time."
