Money can't buy me: Revealing "Lionel Messi," the famous Argentine star, rejected joining a top club despite being offered an annual salary of 51.349 billion baht.
On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7, it was revealed that Lionel Messi, the renowned "La Albiceleste" star of Argentina's national team, reportedly declined an offer from a major club despite being offered an unprecedentedly huge salary of 1.4 billion euros, or approximately 51.349 billion baht per year.
This was disclosed by Anmar Al-Haili, president of Al-Ittihad, a leading wealthy club from the Saudi Arabian league, who personally spoke about it. He stated, "It's true that I once had my team contact Lionel Messi when he was still with Paris Saint-Germain in France's Ligue 1. I offered him up to 1.4 billion euros (51.349 billion baht) per year, but he declined."
Lionel Messi currently plays for Inter Miami in the United States league. The 38-year-old star recently extended his contract with the club until 2028, which was officially confirmed at the end of last October.
